I realized I had never posted the before and after pictures from my first trip to Texas a few months ago! So, my final post on Texas projects is actually the first thing I did:) I was only there for roughly 48 hours, so I wasn’t able to get the floor finished, but I was able to get just over 3/4 of the Living Room floor installed as well as show my brother how to finish it after I left.
It had been years (meaning probably 10 or so, maybe more) since I’ve installed laminate flooring….and, after working on my brother’s floor, and now, the reno at my parent’s house, I’ll take real hardwood, a rubber mallet, brads and a noisy air compressor ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!!! There is no such thing as ‘click-lock’ and done! There is no such thing as just ‘tap it in place’! There is such a thing as work down the entire length of the board to get it to fit snugly while not damaging the other side of the board….especially when you have any unevenness at all!!
I’ve also decided that it sucks to install flooring now vs. a few years ago when we installed ours, just because my knees and back are telling me how much older I am….at this point, when installing floor, or, pretty much doing any major project, I have to get as much done on day one as possible since I don’t know how much I’ll be able to move on day 2!
For now, I still have more floor to install at my parents, so….just have to suck it up, get it done and move on to the next thing…and maybe visit a chiropractor soon:)
